I think I may have been possessed by aliens or something. Being the tennis idiot that I am even though I don't play, I got up early on Saturday to watch the Ladies Final at Wimbledon. Upon realizing that I was up two hours before the final started, my first thought - FIRST - mind you, was "oh, good, I can get some cleaning done."

Now, I did not get as much cleaning done as I could or should have, but I did make some progress. And even more yesterday. It's still not complete and some things need a second going over, but I'm really pleased with myself.

In addition to cleaning, I finished one knitting project and started another while I'm working on a sweater as well. The sweater is very simple and the blanket is lacey and a new pattern. One challenge and one busy hands. If I think about it, I'll post pictures when I'm finished with them.

Hmmm....

If that is alien posession, maybe I should meet some aliens! I could definitely use some incentive to clean house! As far as the knitting goes, I am definitely out of luck there. Never learned to do that, although I would love to learn. My mother in law once promised to teach me. Three years later she moved to PA without a single lesson. Somehow, I doubt those lessons are forthcoming!

Maybe, one day, I will learn to knit. In the meantime, I will sew and strip. Furniture, that is.

You're weak. I've managed to go days without cleaning; I find that when the urge hits, turning the television to a home improvement show or going onto the Internet helps. LOL!

Of course, I'm also the person who came up with the idea of spritzing Pledge into the air when I hear someone coming in, collapsing into a heap on the couch while clutching a dustrag, and sighing, "I clean and I clean and I clean, but it keeps getting messed up again."

{grin}

Weakness

I am SO not weak. I'm just now using cleaning supplies I purchased New Year's Eve for a fresh start. Days are nothing. Try weeks and months. And don't mention Mama's house and the garage. I'm still hoping cleaning fairies will come and make that go away.

Re: Hmmm....

I would offer to teach you, but TX is even farther I think than PA from IL. If you really want to learn though, Lion Brand (http://www.lionbrand.com) has really good basic instructions and free patterns.

I really enjoy it. I find it to be very calming and focusing. A lot of knitters refer to is a being meditative and I have to agree. Do you have any sewing projects? It's been ages since I've sewn. I miss it.

Re: Weakness

Well, in September, a couple of fairies will be visiting ... our cleaning skills are suspect, however. :-)

Sewing Projects and cleaning fairies

First of the two- I am right now trying to find time and motivation to make me a couple more uniforms for work. IF I can buy the house I want to buy in a couple weeks, I will be making throw pillows, curtains, potholders, etc. I am also trying to find time to make a couple of my lacey teddy bears for a thing at our church. It is called Harvest Of Talents, and they have this huge sale of hand made itemsto raise money for world hunger. If you are interested in contributing, we welcome items from all over the world! (hint hint!)

And the cleaning fairies.... I don't know about Jarvis, but Trav was the only 15 yr old I ever knew with hospital corners and polished doorknobs. His room in high school was cleaner than ANY of my female friends' So there may be a cleaning fairy visiting, after all.

I believe her. Sorry, Travis, but I'll believe anything about you and hospital corners.
