Where to begin?

On October 24, 2004 I went to my very first drag show. It was an absolute blast. A dear friend and his partner were performing for the first time. G was in drag as I think Faith Hill and M was Tim McGraw for two songs, one of which G and another friend in drag fought over him. I had the most fun with another friend of theirs, the Lunch Lady, yelling "pull harder" and "make a wish" while they were onstage. But G and their friend made the right choice in the end and picked each other. The Lunch Lady remarked that when he first saw G all done up, he looked like Daisy from "Keeping up Appearances." The one with the English version of a redneck for a husband. It took G quite a while to realize that was a compliment.

Yesterday was G's birthday and there was a group of about 13 that met for dinner. I'd given him my present and card earlier that day, cuz everybody showing up for dinner was supposed to be a surprise. Did I mention I was the only girl there? Twelve gay men and me. That's a great title for something, I just know it.

Okay, here's the part where I admit to being totally frelling insane. Not only have I signed up for National Novel Writing Month this year (again!), but I agreed to be part of the Austin/Houston Challenge where the city with the greatest average word count wins. It starts today. I only have about 50 words written so far. Of course, the insanity increases because I write things out long hand and then type it up. Why didn't any one tell me emotional masochism is no fun?

But I did have fun at the kick off party Friday night.
