Kirby's still here and fighting to get better.
She was doing really well Wednesday. I visited her about 2:30pm and she stood up and moved around and got out of the cage all by herself and ate like my girl always does. Which is to say she wolfed it down and looked for more. Like mother, like daughter.
When I went to visit yesterday, she was more subdued. I went earlier in the day and they had given her a bath, so she was really tired. I read to her for a little while, The Two Towers, and she'd lift her head every so often. I offered her some food, but she didn't take any. She had eaten earlier in the morning though. I got a call from the doctor last night saying her temperature had gone up to 105 and they had gotten it down to 102. They were being more aggressive with the IV antibiotics, but she might need surgery in the morning.
Cut to this morning. They managed to get her temperature down to under 102 and keep it there for the night. The doctor is going to operate today. There's more swelling in her rear legs and the doctor had trouble getting a blood sample because of it. They're going in to clean out some of the wounds and remove any dead tissue and put drains in to keep it clean.
I like Dr. Hunter. She seems very capable and caring. Kirby's in the best possible hands that she can be.
Cosmo seems to be doing well. Still much more quiet than I normally think of him being. I think Arthur and Ashley have taken it stride simply because they only heard it.
